Dreamcast, the console that may never die.

// September 9th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog, Gaming, mistical.com, News

Another new Dreamcast game is going to be released this October. Yes, October 2009. The console that came out in 1998 is still living strong.

The game is Rush Rush Rally Racing and you will be able to buy it from sites like Amazon and eBay for $22 or less. It just amazes me that some old consoles would still even get a game made for it almost 10 years later. I still miss the old days of some of these consoles like Nintendo, Sega and my original GameBoy. It is just near impossible for me to go back to old consoles, I have tried and failed.

Xbox 360 Launch Console vs Xbox 360 Elite Fall 2009

// September 6th, 2009 // 6 Comments » // Gaming, mistical.com, Reviews

On Saturday, August 29th, 2009 my Xbox 360 Pro Launch Console received the dreaded E74 error message. Which is basically right next to the RROD error. My Xbox 360 Launch Console is obviously out of warranty and I was not going to pay $99 to get rid of the launch console to only get a refurbished one sent back to me that could possibly get this again. Plus, the launch console is too valuable to me for various reasons.

Anyways, here is what I have noticed with the Xbox 360 Elite Fall 2009 build. The console is obviously quieter, without a doubt. I forget it is on, which is even better when you are using it to play movies. I never really had a problem with it while playing video games. I also noticed that game discs load much faster than before with the launch console. Then there is the Jasper CPU which you will not really notice but it is better than the Falcon CPU they used in the launch and early on system consoles. These 360′s should not be prone as much to the RROD’s or E74 error messages either.

If you are looking to get an Xbox 360, definitely by the Fall 2009 consoles or any other ones with later build dates. If you some how have waited this long to get an Xbox 360 because of hearing people with RROD/E74 problems, then you should not of waited but no need to wait any longer now either.

Want Xbox Live Renewals Off? Here’s how!

// September 3rd, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog, Gaming, mistical.com

MajorNelson made a post a few days ago on how you can turn off automatic renewal of your Xbox Live Gamertag. This saves you so much time since you will not have to call Microsoft/Xbox Live Support. So forget canceling, turn this off and what will happen is that your Gamertag will just turn into a Silver membership instead of Gold.

Sign into Xbox.com and click “My Account Section” then from there click the “Membership Level link“. You will then see text saying “Automatic Renewal: ON”. Now click the “ON” link and it will bring you to a page where you can turn it OFF. Select off and click next to finish the process. If you would like to turn them back on, just click the OFF link and go through the process again.

My suggestion? Just pay for the yearly membership no matter what you are doing. Unless you are using cards or cards from others there then sure, turn off automatic renewal so it does not charge your card. Otherwise, to those paying monthly fees, even if you barely game, in the long run you save. But hey, do what you want in the end, not my money.

Microsoft Xbox Fails with Hard Drive Migration Kit’s

// August 31st, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog, Gaming, mistical.com

Microsoft Xbox is really starting to fail at the moment. Why? Because of their Xbox 360 Hard Drive Migration Kit’s. You can NOT find these in-stores. You can only order them for approximately $14 through them by calling them. I would really, really like to know why is this? and what genius thought of this. Because he or she is not only a fucking moron but should be fired. Maybe I am sounding a bit harsh but not really, read on.

Here is my problem: Xbox 360 dropped their prices this past Friday. On Saturday my launch system console received the E74 error message. Coincidence? I would think not. My Xbox 360 is obviously out of warranty since it’s a launch system console, almost 4 years old in just about 2 1/2 months. I do not want to just give away my launch system for $99 only to get a refurbished one so instead I decided to order the Xbox 360 Elite Fall 2009 edition from Amazon.

Here is where my problem gets worse, I want to transfer my 20GB HD over to my new 120GB when I get it tomorrow. I would love to start using the 120GB HD right away. It is almost for sure I will not be able to tomorrow and I will have to wait at least a week. No store sells the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Migration Kit. How ridiculous is that? I am so, so surprised no one on eBay is selling them either because 99% of people should not need them after they have used it. Yes, you can find third-party ones from Hong Kong on there. But the disc to transfer probably will come in PAL format, be unreadable and I am not waiting weeks for it to get here from Hong Kong. So that is not an option, the only legit one I found is from Canada and that will still take too long to get here.

So to end this, Microsoft Xbox, you should really think about putting the Hard Drive Migration Kit’s in-stores. Why you don’t all these years is beyond me. Especially since you sell them WITH separate 120GB hard drives in which my case, that would be a huge waste of money since I have a 120GB HD coming with the console. Also the fact that I have seen that it does have its own packaging so why even bother making packages for it if you still have not put them in-stores? You may as well just not do that to make it look pretty and throw them in a box when you ship them to someone.

Hell mother fucking ya! Real fucking night vision goggles. Count me in for this one for sure, I bet it’s price will be $129. Either way, without a doubt already purchasing this one. This is probably the best “special edition” packaging to ever come out by ANY video gaming company.

Bethesda Announces 2 More New Fallout 3 DLC

// May 19th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog, Gaming, mistical.com, News

Bethesda announced today two more new Fallout 3 Downloadable Content for all versions including Xbox 360. The first DLC is called Point Lookout and it lets you explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content. It will be released in late June for Xbox 360 and PC for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99).

Mothership Zeta is the second DLC, scheduled for release in late July for Xbox 360 and PC for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99). In Mothership Zeta, the aliens have returned, and they’re pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

I am much more looking forward to Mothership Zeta not that I expect Point Lookout to be anywhere not good though. Bethesda has really been pushing out great new DLC for Fallout 3 this year and it has all been great so far, I am getting so much more out of this game then originally thought.

XBL Gold Subscribers finally getting a feature over Silver members.

// April 27th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog, Gaming, mistical.com, News

Did you know that Xbox Live has never given its Gold Subscribers nothing over Silver members? Well finally that day has come and even later than it was suppose too. Back when the NXE update came out in November 2008, a new feature was to come to Xbox Live called 1 vs 100. Now finally, it is coming this Spring.

Do not count on them giving you more though now over Silver members. While Xbox Live is not too expensive and other consoles do offer it for free, Xbox Live is still the best experience. But when you really think about Xbox Live and nit pick at it, it really sucks sometimes minus being able to play online with friends of the features that Silver members do get still, even if they have to wait a day to get some of them (like demos).

Fallout 3: Broken Steel arrives May 5th

// April 21st, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog, Gaming, mistical.com, News

For you Fallout 3 fans out there, get ready for May 5th as the third final part of the announced DLC content comes out, Broken Steel. This is a much larger DLC than from the past 2 DLC releases. This not only fixes the main story line allowing you to continue from the ending rather than not but it also gives you a level cap increase from 20 to 30. Yet alone, many more hours of Fallout fun, more main quests and side quests along with a bunch of new perks to choose from when leveling up with to 30. Enemies will be much harder to defeat too with this.

Fallout Movie or TV show in the works?

// April 21st, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog, Gaming, mistical.com, News

Fallout may soon be making the big screen jump. Bethesda Softworks, the company behind the most recent Fallout game, Fallout 3 has registered a trademark, claiming the Fallout name for “entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program” and in another filing, securing the trademark for “motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world.”

I hope either or comes true. Fallout is such a great game, especially with all the new DLC content and next one coming out May 5th as well as Fallout New Vegas being announced the other day that will not be a sequel but still be in the same era.
