Furious 7 Review

Last night I went and saw Furious 7 at the 7pm “midnight” opening and it was absolutely amazing. It had everything you could ask for in the Fast and Furious franchise. It had a lot of non-stop action, good fight scenes between all of the actors and a plot that I personally enjoyed and it seems other did as well.

The movie played a lot of homage to entire franchise throughout the years, including old friends such as Hector to even one of the two Muscle racers that Paul and Tyrese raced against in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

The ending was a very emotional ending and one of the best that I think a movie could do for the loss and memory of Paul Walker.

Vin Diesel gave one of the best voice over speeches that you could ask for it. The best part of it was, was that fact he was just NOT speaking for the movie but also as a real-life speech and to his best friend on and off the screen. It was one of those moments where it takes you out of the movie experience and into real-life and it was a touching one.

Rest in Peace Paul Walker, you will truly be missed. Thank you for everything.

Terrible Movies of 2012

I normally can like most movies and enjoy them to a point, but I can only do that so much and for so many movies. These are those movies of 2012 that I thought and I am sure many others will agree with me, were absolutely terrible.

  • The Cold Light of Day
    • Bruce Willis dies about 10 minutes into the movie and has maybe 2 minutes of screen time. He worked for the CIA, his son did not know and Sigourney Weaver is bad. The actor who plays Bruce’s son has to save his kidnapped family, blah blah blah and does it. I hate spoilers like the next person but I really saved you your time. None of the movies listed below have spoilers like this one, though I should rethink that.
  • End of Watch
    • The previews for this movie looked good. The end result? Not so much. There is really no point to this movie. The ending is almost typical and likely what you knew would happen.
  • John Carter
    • I really wish Taylor Kitsch would have avoided this movie like the plaque. Out of nowhere he was given all these “huge” roles, only for them to be pretty much terrible movies which liklely will not help his career what so ever. At least Battleship was decent enough to watch, I cannot say the same for this movie and “Savages.” He will always be the best in the Friday Night Lights TV series, which is one of the best TV series of all time too.
  • Red Dawn 2012
    • I never cared for the original, it was one of the movies you partially watched here and there when it came on TV. There was never a reason and still is not to have remade this movie. It was worse than the original, and the original was never that great to start with either. This movie had errors with the film everywhere and not just with the plot.

      You may not be familiar with such information such as this movie was filmed in 2009 but put on hold because of MGM going bankrupt. The same goes for the entire movie had to be edited again to change the bad guys from being China to North Korea.

      The ending was horrible as well as what happens to someone about 15 minutes before the ending. The movie is actually pretty short too, shorter than the original movie. Would the movie have been any better if it was not rushed? No. I really do not think so, but they could have at least prepared a better ending and not rushed other scenes. I do not think it would have helped though. This type of movie did not need to be made, there is no reason to ever believe America would be invaded today either.

  • Resident Evil: Extinction
    • I would recommend watching the last minute or so of the movie rather than the entire movie, it will be more enjoyable and then just hope that the next Resident Evil holds up to the final scene of this movie and everything will be okay.
  • Savages
    • This movie ended up quite a disappointment, the few and short actions scenes the movie had were great and action packed but otherwise, it is a very long delayed love movie. The ending scene will likely disappoint you further as well. It may or may not remind you of scene from the final Twilight movie too.
  • Total Recall
    • Another remake that went terribly wrong. This is when you know A-list actors do NOT always make a great movie. I understood the original quite well but this movie just seemed to make me careless as the movie dragged on. I lost interest on what was going on and happening a lot, other than the completely blatant obvious of course.
  • Chernobyl Diaries
    • The first time I saw this trailer, it grabbed my interests and what they had to show us. In the end, they show you absolutely nothing and that after all it was just some type of nuclear mutation to people exposed for a period a time, the worse as the get closer to ground zero. What a disappoint and absolute short waste of time.

Those are most the movies that I can think of that I just think were absolutely terrible for 2012 that I watched. There were some decent movies that I do not find to have been terrible, such as Battleship (not that it was great either though) but just decent or other movies that were somewhat funny like The Watch.

In-between Decision:

  • Dredd
    • I liked Dredd, but I also hated it so easily. It was nothing, nor ever will be, comparable to the original Sylvester Stallone Judge Dredd from 1995. I will forever like the original Judge Dredd.

      I did like some aspects of what they did with this movie, but the closed environment ruined what could have made it really better. They did a great job on everything outside of the apartment building and we should have seen more of that. The choice of actors was fine to me, however Karl Urban does and never does sound anything comparable to what Sylvester Stallone sounded like and what I believe Judge Dredd should sound like.

Terrible T-Mobile Support

For the first time for me, I have had one of the worst T-Mobile Support experiences. Which is actually quite bad coming from someone such as myself, since I have always stuck by T-Mobile and supported or recommend them as a customer, even after 11 years or more now. What makes this even more sad, is that it is over the littlest thing you could possibly imagine, a broken charger.

It all started with their Twitter support, which many companies have now a days and it is really just the same as phone or FAQ/online support for most companies too. It is pretty much automated and they actually do not want to help you more than they do when you call them. It use to be different in the past, for example Comcast use to have great Twitter support, but the last few years that is non-existent.

It does not seem that T-Mobile wants to strive for customer service anymore. Why do I think this? Well aside from my experience, take a look at these results:

That’s not a good sign at all, and things do not look to be getting better. Especially when you have issues like mine come up, or far much worse issues for people that will up and leave T-Mobile and are not loyal. And speaking of loyalty, I am even questioning mine after this experience which I will be explaining now. Then there are just more, older articles like this one, Has T-Mobile Customer Service Taken A Turn For The Worse? or others that have continue to get written more of late.

What happened with me?

I used the option to upgrade a line of mine with a free and refurbished phone, nothing special either, just a Samsung T159 flip phone. The phone works just fine, but found out the charger actually is broken, closer look at it reveals that 1 of the copper pieces inside of the connector piece is missing.

So I decided to contact T-Mobile via Twitter and they are very much unwilling to help without wasting time and money. They want me to claim buyers remorse, which requires you to send the entire phone back and then order a new one. I am not sure how this would work with my upgrade option and so forth free (I am sure something bad would have happened), then again I do not want to pay shipping either and of course, waste more time without the phone in use, which I am sure would take up to 2 weeks. Maybe if T-Mobile would give me a free month I would actually consider doing this.

The other option would be to use buyers remorse and replace the entire kit by sending that one back and we send another. ^KM

That is it, there is nothing else they can do and have said twice now the following:

Yes, thanks for really nothing. Honestly, their Twitter support might as well be automated. When I asked them if I would be able to trade one at a store, this was their response:

They should sell the cables in store too :) ^LG.

Are you serious? That was their response when I asked that and to have you spend more money because they could not even ship you a working charger. You would think that refurbished phones go through additional checks, and that would include the charger as well but I guess not.

That all having been said…

I more than understand this was not the worst support anyone has ever received and that it could have been worse. But at the same time, there is no reason why even people unlike me should have to deal with this lack of support, being told to use “buyer’s remorse” and be without a phone or have to purchase a new charger when you should not have to.

UPDATE: Samsung being awesome reached out to me and already in the process of getting a new charger replacement. I should have just contacted them to begin with. :)

The Expendables 2 Review

Earlier this afternoon I went and saw The Expendables 2 with my brother and honestly, it was fucking awesome. I very much enjoyed it and I did definitely got my monies worth from it. I even enjoyed it more than the first one, which I still love.

I have read some reviews, from all over the place, and while I understand people have their own opinions, this movie was just not as terrible as these reviewers are describing it as. If you do not think you are going to like the movie going into it, then why see it? If it is purely because you have to review it, then for fuck sakes at least take the movie for what it is and think it is the worst movie out there, because I can definitely name movies that are far much worse that have been made. There are so many out there yet alone with endings that just do not make sense or have one at all.

The reason why I enjoyed this movie so much is because I grew up watching with each one of these actors in the movie, I have watched each and every movie of theirs more than I will ever be able to count for per each movie. You can simply just ignore the fact that it is a hollywood movie; that you may think just wants money as we all do, and enjoy that either all, most of your favorite stars or that they are all on-screen together which does not happen very often at all, yet alone twice or possibly now three times.

The movie has nearly all the classic quotes/lines you heard growing up, just like the first movie and making jokes at them too. This I love the most and how can you not? Each of these actors are getting old, which saddens me a lot because there will come a day that each one of these actors will stop making films. Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are the main three, while you already very seldom see Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Dolph Lundgren as it is.

Getting back to the movie action, as far as the action and writing in the movie goes, I thought it was great. I personally think there was even more action than the first one because each time I watch it, I am always left wishing there had been more action. I loved that there was more scenes with Terry Crews and his semi-automatic shotgun as well as all the other actors especially at the end of the movie.

Overall, you can tell I loved The Expendables 2 and it was a pure bad-ass movie. I highly recommend seeing it if you would love this movie, loved the first or you love all or some of the actors in it.

American Reunion Review

Last night I went and saw the midnight premiere of American Reunion with my girlfriend Jordan and my brother. It was fucking awesome and absolutely hilarious to say the least! It definitely exceeded my expectations and I would definitely say it was a good as American Pie, if not better than it.

While it does not take much for me to laugh, I laughed through the entire movie. The directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (whom did the Harold and Kumar movies) did a great job keeping it true to what we have all come to love, enjoy and the laughter along with Executive Producers (and anyone else!) Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott.

I would highly recommend nearly anyone go see it especially if you have always enjoyed the true American Pie movies, if you have not seen them you might want to go watch 1, 2 and 3 before you see this one.

My thoughts on “Google Play”

Around a week ago Google decide to rename Google Market to Google Play as well as other services such as Google Music to Google Play Music. I think it is one of the most ridiculous name changes I have seen especially in the longest time. It does not make much sense to me, other than the complete obvious.

What was wrong with “Market”? It is the most simplest name for anyone non-tech-savvy to completely understand where to get applications, games, music and much more from.

Then you also have the new icon for it; shown above, which I think is one of the most ugliest and hideous icons Google has ever given us too. I know this is my own opinion but I am sure there is at least a large group of other people out there that will agree with me on that too.

The Hangover Part II Review

I’ve been meaning to write my review on The Hangover Part II since after seeing the movie the night it came out when I went and saw it with my girlfriend, Jordan and my brother, Mike.

Let me first say that I’m a huge fan of the first film, I have literally watched it over 1,000 times easily, and will continue to over the course of my life. :) This will of course continue with this second movie as well. I would feel the same with any more as well, which is why I would LOVE to do at least 1 more. If they were to do a third one, which I really hope they do, it needs to be based on Alan (Zach Galifianakis). I would hope we could finally see more of Doug (Justin Bartha) too.

Back to my review though, it was awesome! I absolutely loved it and every moment of it. It’s hard for me to dislike a movie though, sure some movies mess up with sequels and there will be people that actually hated this one or will say “it’s the same as the first one” but they don’t get it at the same time it seems. The first movie will always be the best, that’s what you loved. I loved the first one as well as the fact that it was in Las Vegas, which just one of the best places you could ever visit. But that doesn’t mean I disliked/hate this sequel, not at all.

There are a lot of great moments and laughs in this one compared to the first too. You can sometimes guess what is going to happen next, but sometimes not at all or guessed wrong. They really tried to make sure that you wouldn’t guess what was going to happen or where Teddy was. They even poked fun at and made sure to check the rooftop of where they ended up in Bangkok first too. That was hilarious.

Overall, this is a must movie to see if you enjoy these types of films, comedy, etc. Especially if you enjoyed the first Hangover, I don’t see how this second one could disappoint you. It’s just another movie, this time a sequel. The industry writes and directs terrible movies all the time (comedy and not), this is not one of those nor close.

Disappointed with the Razer Onza

So today is the day where I no longer use the Razer Onza yet alone any other future Razer product.

I preordered the Onza the minute it was made available for preorder back in January 2011. I had been waiting to play with it for over a year since it was announced. It was finally shipped to me just over 2 months ago. I loved it at first, but will not even bother to love it anymore. Read on as to why.

I was actually told to contact Min-Liang Tan on Twitter via email, the CEO of Razer, week ago about my issues with the Onza. I was actually going to email a lot of what I said below in an email to them, but decided not to. Why? Because I do not feel as if these issues have been fixed, not only does my brother’s controller and girlfriends have the same issues but people online around forums and other comments elsewhere have reported the same issues as mine or similar. Plus I would be without the controller for who knows how long aside from using the main Xbox 360 controller.

Now that that has been said, I will get to the main reasons why I am disappointed with the Razer Onza, Razer and just overall think the product is terrible to purchase.

  • 1st issue (big issue/main problem): The left joystick will always stop you from running in games. To be more specific, games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, where when the left joystick is clicked, this allows you to run. It is always a damn problem, usually a hit or miss each time you use it, for me, it has frequent use. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the controller to regain control of the left joystick but that does not work. The only time it starts to work right for a short while it when I have shut down the Xbox 360 and turned it back on.
  • 2nd issue (big issue/main problem): The right joystick (very rarely the left joystick) will sometimes physically get stuck in a position. The position it nearly always gets stuck in is towards the right and slightly downwards, think of it getting stuck around the 0 degree angle towards 320 degree. It actually gets stuck, it does not move back into position if I let go over the joystick.
    This does not happen on a constant basis but I can almost always get it to happen and it will normally happen about 6 times (guessing) over a course of around a 5 hour gaming session.

    • What happens in-game with this above, 2nd, issue?
      I use the controller for all games, but its main purpose is for each Call of Duty title online/multiplayer, right now it is Black Ops. When the right joystick gets stuck, it causes me to spin in the game until I physically remove the joystick from being stuck at that position.
  • 3rd issue (minor problem): The X button feels like it has begun to act like it has worn out when it is touched/pressed. It feels different when “touched/pressed” versus the other Y, B, A buttons that feel perfectly when pressed/touched. I hope this makes sense.
    It has not rendered the X button inoperable though, it still works just fine and the response time just does not feel the same anymore over the last 31 days of usage when pressed.
  • 4th issue (minor problem): After the first week of using the controller, the sticker on the back containing the serial number among other information has started to peel off. I have tried to stop this process from happening but with no luck. I definitely try to avoid touching that area but I do have big hands and I cannot just constantly think about making sure I am not touching it and have to play the game. How I use the controller is how I hold the controller too, so I cannot just easily change how I hold it, it should never start to peal off within the first week anyways.

    • I would personally suggest to avoid purchasing the Onza controller. I also do not see them fixing the above issues anytime soon, and even if they did, I am sure people like myself and others who have had these problems are screwed anyways.

Farewell Fanvibe

Normally I would not even write a post or even announce that I am leaving some sort of site, especially some new site that has only barely even been popular nor around long. But I felt as if I really needed to write such a post.

If you have not heard of Fanvibe, which I guarantee 99.9% of you have not, then just to give you a brief information on them, they are a sport check-in service. This is exactly like how Foursquare and Gowalla are, expect you do not have to be at the game to check-in.

I have been using them for the last few months, I was excited to keep using them still too since the NFL was just starting up it’s regular season and their pre-season had been going on. Prior, I was waiting for it to start as well as the NBA season later on. But up until this past week, that will never happen again. If I had the time, I would actually start my own service as such, and do what Fanvibe did wrong as well as alienate their users. It is too bad I have no time for that at this moment.

They changed something this week that was incredibly stupid of them, which I am sure Art Chang had most to do with this change. They normally have questions during a specific game for an extra XX amount of points. Not a crazy amount, until this week, they changed it to the thousands. One of these questions even led to 9,000 points for you, if answered correctly. Now remember, you must be actively viewing this game to even catch these questions and answer them in a specific time. I did not get to participate in this, nor was there any type of announcement or notice in their (shitty, annoying) daily newsletter either.

But the reason I left because of this, is because they changed nothing else at all on the site in relation to points. If you are going to make such a changes to the points then you need to adjust the points given everywhere else as well so people that are not able to catch the change and/or participate at that time have a chance as well to play the game fairly and earn such a high amount of points too. Be it by new ways of earning points (not going to give out suggestions) or making properly picked games 1,000 points instead of 10 points to whatever you need to do.

I ended up also getting into long arguing discussions with them, what is quite sad and shows how much of a poor team they were to begin with. I do not see this website lasting long while continuing the way they are.

Iron Man 2 Review

Last Thursday Night, my girlfriend Jordan, my brother and my good friend Michael went to see Iron Man 2 at the midnight release. We literally sat through 20 minutes of trailers, the most we have ever had to sit through. I am not necessary complaining about it but 20 minutes is a long time to watch trailers, we saw this movie at an AMC theatre.

The movie was fucking awesome and I really enjoyed it. I think I can say the same for all of us too that saw it too. If you see it, make sure to stay till the end of the credits. Majority of our crowd in the theatre stayed after the movie to watch the clip that we all knew was going to happen, just like at the end of Iron Man.

First off, there were a bunch of easter eggs, if you are interested in finding out what they were, click that link and enjoy. If you have not seen the movie, I would not recommend you read it. There are more articles out there on Google you can go to which provide more pictures of the easter eggs and discussion.

Now about the movie, the action scenes were awesome and well done. The best part I loved about the movie, is the final fight scene and the weapon that Tony Stark/Iron Man uses. If you have seen the movie, you know what I am talking about. If you have not seen it yet, you will know what I am talking about when you get to the scene.

I was also sketchy at first with Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodey. Do not get me wrong, Don Cheadle is a fucking badass actor and the same goes with Terrence Howard. But in the end, I think Don Cheadle deserves the role of Rhodey. The moments and humor between him and Tony/Iron Man throughout the movie were greatly written and well done. The chemistry was perfect, I think.

You will also notice that a lot of new characters are introduced in this movie than the first one. I have read around that more of the characters could of had a little more screen time such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson and Clark Gregg especially. I do not 100% agree with this, but I do think they should of had a little more screen time. I am barely a fan of Sam Rockwell and his acting, but he did play the role of Justin Hammer good.

In the end, I rate Iron Man 2 a 10/10. It is definitely worth seeing and paying for. You can not go wrong here with the purchase, unless of course you do not like Iron Man or maybe even the first one.
