40 Nightblade / 36 Riftstalker “PVP Tank”

The build: 40 Nightblade / 36 Riftstalker / 0 Saboteur

The reason I went with 40 Nightblade instead of 40 Riftstalker is because of Twilight Transcendance, in my opinion, being much better in PVP over Defer Death (40 point ability) in Riftstalker.

This is a great build, possibly as good as it can get, for carrying stones back as a Rogue in Escalation: Whitefall Steppes without dying too quickly and not being able to use our teleports or run speed buffs. That is also another reason why there is not a point or two points into Hasted Time in Riftstalker. If you are looking for a way to get the Storm Thief achievement, this is one way of helping you get it much faster than other ways with or without a pocket healer(s).

This build is similiar to the 48 Nightblade / 28 Riftstalker build but with more endurance and another cooldown to utilize.

Synergy Crystals:

Gilded Riftstalker Crystal
T'Scain's Riftstalker Crystal

You could use the Nightblade Crystal instead too if you wanted, but you lose the increased endurance.

Builder:

#show Dusk to Dawn
cast Dusk to Dawn
cast Dusk Strike
cast Twilight Force

You could remove Dusk to Dawn from this macro and have it as a separate key instead due to it having a 4 second root. This could come in handy with anyone chasing you while carrying the stone.

You will want to make sure State of Sloth is on your target as much as possible, I recommend using Karuul Alert, which gets applied by using Twilight Force.

Make sure that you put Primal Strike on another hotkey as you are not always going to spam Dusk Strike probably more than 5 times and this spec does not have Ebon Fury, unless you want it.

Do not bother to use Fiery Spike, it is useless in PVP.

Finisher:

#show Scourge of Darkness
cast Scourge of Darkness
cast Blazing Strike
cast Flame Thrust

You will want to make sure that you use Scourge of Darkness with 5 combo points only and not less.

Finisher while carrying stone:

Guarded Steel

The reason behind this is so you put up your passive buffs and get increased armor too because of not having the ability to teleport while carrying the stone.

Shifts:

#show Shadow Blitz
cast Shadow Assault
cast Shadow Blitz
cast Shadow Stalk

You can use these for offensive or defensive purposes, only use them at least every 10 seconds if possible. They will be great if your target is trying to get away or out range you. You will also use them for increase critical hit by 5% for 10 seconds as well as putting up your shields to reduce damage taken.

As I have already said before, you will not be able to use any of these Shifts while carrying a stone.

Shadow Shift

I would recommend putting this shift on another key and not inside of the macro as it teleports you 15 meters forward and will give you more control when to use it or not at all.

AOE:

#show Rift Disturbance
cast Rift Disturbance
cast Fiery Chains
cast Weapon Flare

This will come in handy if you are trying to keep a group of people from either picking up a stone, stealing one, taking the fang or a control point.

Healing:

Twilight Transcendence

This is basically your oh shit cooldown for when you get in trouble, may it be just be to stay alive a little longer or get to somewhere or a healer and so forth. Make sure to use it wisely, it is a great cooldown to have but it does have a 2 minute cooldown.

It will really come in handy when stealing a stone, such as for the earlier mentioned Storm Thief Achievement. Make sure you always have it on cooldown when you are stealing one and you will likely have to use it when you are 50% to 75% back to your base. Hopefully there is a earlier along side you or coming to you along the way too at anytime before, during or after this.

It removes all Curses, Diseases, and Poisons from you and reduces damage taken by 50% and damage done by 40%. It restores 50% of your max health over 4 seconds.

Interrupts and Control:

Planar Disruption - This has an 8 second cooldown
Rift Prison - This puts an enemy in a prison for 6 seconds unless they break free. It has a 20 second cooldown.

Movement Utility:

Memory Capture - Sets the Rogue's current location for Flashback.
Flashback - Removes all crowd control effects. Teleports to the location set by Memory Capture. It must be used within 50 meters of that location. It has a 25 second cooldown.

This is a great ability to have, either to get away fast from an enemy or many other different scenarios. You will not be able to use this while carrying a stone though.

Buffs:
[crayon][/crayon]

Buffs:

Guardian Phase
Constant Deviation
Planebound Resilience
Hellfire Blades (or Fell Blades)
Smoldering Blades
Planar Reversal

You will switch to Stalker Phase instead of Guardian phase when you want to deal damage, and more damage.

You will toggle Constant Deviation on and off when dealing damage, especially to deal more damage. You may not want to have this on at all times though, as when it is on, you will take 25% more damage than normal.
