1.11 Rogue Patch Notes

Several mechanical changes have been made to the Rogue and combat in general for Storm Legion. Because of these changes, multiple abilities have either been removed and replaced, or adjusted to appropriate values. For all of the souls, their primary functions remain the same. There are some changes to the combat rotations for a few of the Rogues as we attempt to reduce the reliance on macros and improve the overall gameplay experience for specific Souls

  • Combo Points now persist on the Rogue and are no longer lost when the target dies.
  • Energy regeneration and Energy costs of all abilities have been adjusted to increase the time it takes for the Rogue to be energy starved, and reduce the reliance of cost reduction buffs like Anthem of Fervor to do competitive DPS.
  • Energy costs of Finishers are no longer reduced with more Combo Points. Instead, their damage increases exponentially with more Combo Points used.
  • Self buffing Finishers like Scourge of Darkness or Meditative Trance no longer require an enemy target to be executed.

New Rogue Soul Reveal ‘Tactician’ on Live Stream Friday Oct 5th

Elrar posted in the Rogue forums today that the Rogue soul reveal “Tactician” will be shown on Friday, October 5th. They will be announcing it Monday with further details, we will update this post as soon as they are released.

My main class has always been a Rogue, I love my Rogue and the class itself. I have been excited for Storm Legion for a while with all the soul changes we will see early in Patch 1.11 and then of course the long overdue energy fix in Storm Legion as well as what this new soul; Tactician, will add for us for in specs.

I am really hoping that it will be a DPS soul, preferably a melee class so we can do more than just “Bloodstalker” or Nightblade. I really hope it is not another support soul since we have bard and in my opinion, that is enough.

It will indeed be next Friday, October 5th!

Getting all the ducks in a row and we should announce Monday – and if our plans work out you’ll be seeing at least one live stream a week up through launch starting in October as we explore all that Storm Legion has to offer, full steam ahead!

1.10 Ranger Pet DPS Bug Found and Fixed

1.10 launched with a Rogue Ranger Pet DPS Bug that caused them to do less DPS. Finally Hotfix #2 #3 will have this bug fixed and we can go back to our normal DPS as Ailion posted today. 🙂

We have identified the bug that have caused Ranger pets to do less DPS.
This will be fixed and deployed in the next build.

Bow Travel Time to Disappear in the Future

Today the user Violacea posted the following in reply to Haipaa on the Rift Forums:

This, please tell me there is, haven’t seen one so far so I don’t think there is one 🙂

Josh, Please for the love of god, add a Gun Relic to Maelforge, a Bow is terrible in so many ways, playing as Saboteur is one thing.

One day they will kill the disparity between guns/bows and make them equal mechanically, and probably even equal for bonus purposes. It is just too hairy and awkward a thing to maintain and people hate it. One day…

Which was then responded to shortly after by Josh York, Systems Designer (Itemization) Developer at Rift with the following:

This is on our to-fix list.

This is great news! I have long been annoyed by the travel time on bows and have just started using one again after replacing the guns I have had since around February with the Tarnished Bow of Carved Bones/Avarice Relic from Infernal Dawn.

Rogue Energy Fixed for Storm Legion “2.0”

Tonight Daglar; part of the Rift Team, posted in the Rift Rogue Forums that last time he played under the 2.0 ruleset that his rogue had no energy issues.

This is great news! However, I would much more appreciate it in 1.10 instead of having to wait until Storm Legion (2.0) comes out which will probably be November or December.

Aillion is super busy making rogues even more fun and amazing in the expac.

Also, last time I played under the 2.0 ruleset, my rogue didn’t have any energy issues.

~Daglar

And just to be certain he was not playing some non energy starved spec, he was playing an Assassin spec. While we do not know what exact spec he was playing this can easily be assumed specs like Ranger and our new builds we will be using in Storm Legion will not have issues!

Nope, was playing an assassin.

I did play a bard later – there are some super fun changes there.

Rift 1.9 Rogue fixes as of In-Progress Set #3

Here are the upcoming 1.9 Rogue fixes as of In-Progress Set #3 and previous sets.

I am sure we will see a few more fixes to Rogues when 1.9 and not just what has been mentioned below and the bug where you are immune to Wild Growth while strafing that has yet to be added.

I do wonder if Rogues will see an Energy update in 1.9 too? We could only hope.

BLADEDANCER
* Fixed a tooltip bug for Keen Strike and Quick Strike.

ASSASSIN
* Baneful Touch: Fixed a tooltip bug where tooltip indicated that this increased poison damage, when it shouldn’t.

BARD
* Virtuoso: Fixed a tooltip bug where the tooltip did not indicate that the effect only works on Codas and not all Finishers.

RANGER
* Predatory Soulstone: The Attack Power buff from Predatory Soulstone should now be triggered when Shadow Fire is cast and not when Shadow Fire deals damage to the target.
* Diffuse: Fixed a bug where Diffuse was causing damage abilities with buffs (like Shadow Fire and Annihilate) to be redirected to your pet.

RIFTSTALKER
* Rift Disturbance: Fixed a tooltip bug where the tooltip indicated the ability would grant a Combo Point when it doesn’t.
* Rift Barrier: Will no longer reflect damage after the absorption from Rift Guard has been consumed.
* Rift Barrier: Now generates threat from non-reflectable attacks received while Rift Guard is active.

Rogue Temporary Energy Fix

Today’s patch included the following Rogue energy changes:

* Rogues now regenerate 24 Energy per second, up from 23.
* Elder Tablets and their lower level counterparts no longer grant Energy regeneration.

This is only a temporary fix and the developers have stated they will look into the actual issue at a later date. This will save people on having to buy Energy Tablets, though they are still helpful for the Strength stat that will give you +9.5 attack power. To avoid confusion, using an Elder Tablet equaled 1 to 1 energy regeneration per second increase.

Well why did Trion even bother to remove energy regeneration from Elder Tablet and still increase our regeneration rate to 24? No idea, they obviously do not want us with 25 right now.

This temporary fix came very soon after people on the Rift Forums started using the No Elder Tablets avatar icon.

Rift Update Fixes Ranger Pets and Saboteur Bugs

Today’s update fixes the Ranger Pets and Saboteur Bugs I had previously mentioned.

RANGER
* Blood Raptor: Rend can now be stacked up to 3 times per Blood Raptor attacking the target.

SABOTEUR
* Time Bomb: Fixed a bug so that only 1 Time Bomb per player can be attached to a target.
* Improved Entangling Trap: Now only requires 15 points spent in Saboteur to acquire instead of 20.

Rift Rogue Confirmed Upcoming Fix for Ranger Pets

Ailion, the Rogue developer, has confirmed there is an upcoming fix to the Ranger Pets Rend attack since it does not stack with other Ranger pets. This causes probably around a 200-300 DPS loss. I would assume this means it will get a fix for sometimes not being used as well? Time will only tell. Too bad this hotfix has yet to be released.

Thanks for the heads up. This will be hot fixed soon.
