Lavasoft Ad-Aware 1.06 Released

What’s New?

Improvements:

  • Disk-scan is approximately 30 % faster
    CSI scan is now more efficient
  • Added “Scan for low risk threats” option, to scan for targets with low TAC index
  • Ad-Watch CSI engine performance highly improved; using less CPU and Memory as well as having a smaller footprint
  • GUI adapted to use the new TAC

Fixed:

  • Freezing during scan (occurring on some systems) now corrected
  • Combination of the +silent and +update command line parameters no longer prevents scan completion
  • The +nodefnotice command line parameter now suppressing “out-of-date” message on preferences window.
  • Ad-Watch TrayIcon tooltip indicating the loaded definition file now refreshed when the definition file is changed or updated in Ad-Aware
  • Several minor GUI improvements (Ad-Aware, Ad-Watch and Proc-Watch)

Google Web Accelerator

Do not download and/or install Google Web Accelerator BETA.

Problem is that your cookies become shared, around the internet, as each site you go to caches that page and sends it off to google’s servers. And for someone else using it, say at a forum, and you did as well at the same forum there is a chance they could see your information and all that fun stuff.

There are many articles out there explaining all of this more in depth then I have. Simply, don’t get this beta or final (if it ever makes it there).

It’s also not like this tool is much of a useful tool, in most cases it saves you a few seconds sometimes about a minute if you are loading multiple pages.
