So today is the day where I no longer use the Razer Onza yet alone any other future Razer product.

I preordered the Onza the minute it was made available for preorder back in January 2011. I had been waiting to play with it for over a year since it was announced. It was finally shipped to me just over 2 months ago. I loved it at first, but will not even bother to love it anymore. Read on as to why.

I was actually told to contact Min-Liang Tan on Twitter via email, the CEO of Razer, week ago about my issues with the Onza. I was actually going to email a lot of what I said below in an email to them, but decided not to. Why? Because I do not feel as if these issues have been fixed, not only does my brother’s controller and girlfriends have the same issues but people online around forums and other comments elsewhere have reported the same issues as mine or similar. Plus I would be without the controller for who knows how long aside from using the main Xbox 360 controller.

Now that that has been said, I will get to the main reasons why I am disappointed with the Razer Onza, Razer and just overall think the product is terrible to purchase.

  • 1st issue (big issue/main problem): The left joystick will always stop you from running in games. To be more specific, games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, where when the left joystick is clicked, this allows you to run. It is always a damn problem, usually a hit or miss each time you use it, for me, it has frequent use. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the controller to regain control of the left joystick but that does not work. The only time it starts to work right for a short while it when I have shut down the Xbox 360 and turned it back on.
  • 2nd issue (big issue/main problem): The right joystick (very rarely the left joystick) will sometimes physically get stuck in a position. The position it nearly always gets stuck in is towards the right and slightly downwards, think of it getting stuck around the 0 degree angle towards 320 degree. It actually gets stuck, it does not move back into position if I let go over the joystick.
This does not happen on a constant basis but I can almost always get it to happen and it will normally happen about 6 times (guessing) over a course of around a 5 hour gaming session.
    • What happens in-game with this above, 2nd, issue?
I use the controller for all games, but its main purpose is for each Call of Duty title online/multiplayer, right now it is Black Ops. When the right joystick gets stuck, it causes me to spin in the game until I physically remove the joystick from being stuck at that position.
  • 3rd issue (minor problem): The X button feels like it has begun to act like it has worn out when it is touched/pressed. It feels different when “touched/pressed” versus the other Y, B, A buttons that feel perfectly when pressed/touched. I hope this makes sense.
It has not rendered the X button inoperable though, it still works just fine and the response time just does not feel the same anymore over the last 31 days of usage when pressed.
  • 4th issue (minor problem): After the first week of using the controller, the sticker on the back containing the serial number among other information has started to peel off. I have tried to stop this process from happening but with no luck. I definitely try to avoid touching that area but I do have big hands and I cannot just constantly think about making sure I am not touching it and have to play the game. How I use the controller is how I hold the controller too, so I cannot just easily change how I hold it, it should never start to peal off within the first week anyways.
  • I would personally suggest to avoid purchasing the Onza controller. I also do not see them fixing the above issues anytime soon, and even if they did, I am sure people like myself and others who have had these problems are screwed anyways.

So with that said, what issues have you had with your Onza controller? Do you still use it? Please comment!

Are Nintendo consoles going to disappear just like Sega did in 2001 within the next 5 to 10 years? Maybe around 2016? I think so. I do not think you will see them completely disappear, I see them taking the same route as Sega and moving towards all software instead.

Why do I think this? Well read and think about this. Microsoft has the Project Natal addon for its Xbox 360 coming out later this year in 2010. Project Natal is going to be able to do much more than the Nintendo Wii will ever do and just possibly any new console Nintendo ever pushes out, could do.

Microsoft Xbox Video Games are just so much superior than Wii’s little games, mainly arcade titles remade, Wii Resort, Wii Sports, etc. Exclude Xbox Live for a moment, any game hands down beats the Wii down. We all know this, yes, there are different groups of gamers that love Wii games over the 360. That is all understandable, I am not arguing this anywhere. But that group of people is much smaller than the larger group for Xbox 360 (or even PlayStation).

I am not bashing the Wii or Nintendo, I can see how it looks like I might be. But I have always loved Nintendo, maybe not so much now a days as I do towards the Xbox 360. I just for see them eventually disappearing such as what has happened to Sega in the console market. We have, or at least I and many others, grown up and seen great fun consoles disappear and in a short period of time to never live a “full life”.

Nintendo has Zelda, Mario and other great, lovable and never, ever forgettable characters but will they always be there to save the console? I do not think so. Yes, the Nintendo Wii has sold many, many consoles. There is no doubt about that or looking at those stats, that you would think Nintendo would disappear from the console market. But I at least, am one of those people that just think it could inevitably happen.

Kids love the Wii and it is a great party system to kids and teens. Sometimes even adults. Maybe I am looking at the Nintendo from a pro gamer aspect and then thinking it can not survive, while part of that may be true, I think you need to hit that pro gamer market and older markets to further survive. Everyone grows up, so I think that everyone that is growing up with the Wii, will eventually need to be hit as well or they may lose them too and come to a drought in between generations.

Are you looking to get the two achievement for collecting 5 collectable weapons “New Shiny Weapon” in Battlefield: Bad Company 2? As well as the other final achievement for weapons, “Guns Guns Guns” for collecting 15? Then you are at the right place. Looking for the M-Com Station Locations Guide? It will be up here shortly.

If you are looking at collecting ALL of the weapons, for which you get no achievement or anything else from the game other than filling the list, then this is a guide for you as well. Here you will find very, rare and only one location weapons such as the USAS-12S and SPAS-12S (slug versions).

In the past, I use to only play PC games and some console where as now it is pretty much all about the Xbox 360. So I will stick to just this console and what I have played personally. I wish I would of had more time in 2009 to venture off especially to play games like Uncharted for PS3.

  1. Batman: Arkham Asylum – Hands down one of the greatest games I have ever played in the longest time. I highly recommend picking this up to buy or rent, it has a lot of replay value if you buy it. I am more than anxiously waiting for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2.
  2. Modern Warfare 2 – For it’s multiplayer. Single Player was absolutely garbage story wise this time around. Plus the COD franchise has always been my favorite multiplayer games. Spec Ops was a good concept but too easy, even on Veteran, for my brother and I. It should of been done a little differently.
  3. BrĂ¼tal Legend – You may not like Jack Black, I do at least but this game was tons more than I thought it was going to be. The storyline was actually good and the gameplay was amazing. I put around 30 hours into this game and would easily put more into it to get more of the little achievements.
  4. Shadow Complex – This arcade game was fantastic. You could not ask for a better arcade game.
  5. Resident Evil 5 – It’s Resident Evil, this is probably the first RE game I have finished myself but with my brother in co-op. He is the one that has played all of the previous RE games though. I really enjoyed it, much better to play co-op with someone though.
  6. X-Men Origins Wolverine – Today’s games seem to be getting better when it comes to putting them on gaming consoles from a movie. Beautiful graphics with awesome gameplay. You get to have claws and kill people, what more do I need to say?
  7. Borderlands – I was thinking of putting this below X-Men but while I put around at least 60 hours into this game, X-Men just was a great game. I enjoyed and had a lot of fun in Borderlands though. But there were a lot of disappointments after playing the game so long that I wish it had.
  8. Ghostbusters – It is the only Ghostbusters game that is actually fun and enjoyable to play. Then also it is the Ghostbusters, why wouldn’t you love this game? Unless you weren’t born in the 80’s. The actors voices are here from the movie and there is an actual storyline.
  9. Transformers 2 – This was much better than Transformers 1 video game, so that is why it is on this list.
  10. Madden NFL 10 – Yea, yea Madden releases a new title every year. But this is the first time where I actually felt that it was really a good purchase and game itself. It felt “more” realistic (NCAA Football 10 felt even better) and much better than it has been in the previous years, 09 was good but 10 is better. We also probably know already and can say that next year, Madden 11 will be better than 10.

Remember, this is a top 10 list for just Xbox 360. I do know that some of these games would of never made my own top 10 list if had been more than just Xbox 360 and that I had played the others. I know the other games are better but I am doing a list of games that I had actually played while not venturing off too much this year.

On Saturday, August 29th, 2009 my Xbox 360 Pro Launch Console received the dreaded E74 error message. Which is basically right next to the RROD error. My Xbox 360 Launch Console is obviously out of warranty and I was not going to pay $99 to get rid of the launch console to only get a refurbished one sent back to me that could possibly get this again. Plus, the launch console is too valuable to me for various reasons.

Anyways, here is what I have noticed with the Xbox 360 Elite Fall 2009 build. The console is obviously quieter, without a doubt. I forget it is on, which is even better when you are using it to play movies. I never really had a problem with it while playing video games. I also noticed that game discs load much faster than before with the launch console. Then there is the Jasper CPU which you will not really notice but it is better than the Falcon CPU they used in the launch and early on system consoles. These 360’s should not be prone as much to the RROD’s or E74 error messages either.

If you are looking to get an Xbox 360, definitely by the Fall 2009 consoles or any other ones with later build dates. If you some how have waited this long to get an Xbox 360 because of hearing people with RROD/E74 problems, then you should not of waited but no need to wait any longer now either.

MajorNelson made a post a few days ago on how you can turn off automatic renewal of your Xbox Live Gamertag. This saves you so much time since you will not have to call Microsoft/Xbox Live Support. So forget canceling, turn this off and what will happen is that your Gamertag will just turn into a Silver membership instead of Gold.

Sign into Xbox.com and click “My Account Section” then from there click the “Membership Level link“. You will then see text saying “Automatic Renewal: ON”. Now click the “ON” link and it will bring you to a page where you can turn it OFF. Select off and click next to finish the process. If you would like to turn them back on, just click the OFF link and go through the process again.

My suggestion? Just pay for the yearly membership no matter what you are doing. Unless you are using cards or cards from others there then sure, turn off automatic renewal so it does not charge your card. Otherwise, to those paying monthly fees, even if you barely game, in the long run you save. But hey, do what you want in the end, not my money.
