OS X Native Twitter Apps

Lately and finally, more native true real OS X Twitter Apps have been coming around. So if you are looking to get away from those shitty Adobe Air apps like Seesmic, TweetDeck, Twhirl, Destroy Twitter or anything else. You have come to the right place. :)

There should be no reason why you are using those fake twitter apps especially on OS X. I can understand being use to them before these apps have finally arrived lately or if you are a Windows user using these Adobe Air apps.

Lounge is a great app. I am still using it as my main Twitter app along with Tweetie on the side. I mainly use Tweetie to scroll through my tweets faster as I can use the arrow keys. Lounges offers a great way to save searches and view linked tweets.

Tweetie is now a Mac app and no longer just a iPhone app. This app is probably the most beautiful Twitter app as far as user interface goes to use. Plus it has a great way to pick up where you left off such as what I always missed and from when I used Twitterrific (stopped using, not native and other reasons).

There is also Bluebird and Beak which I have not given too much of a try yet and might at a later date. But I am really liking Lounge and Tweetie right now a lot.

Cheat Codes in Video Games

Remember years ago when there were many cheat codes to use in Video Games? Now a days there seem to be much, much less of this. While we all know a lot of this has to do with games being much easier to play, difficulty wise or not. Also due to Achievements on Xbox 360 or the recent addition of trophies of PlayStation 3.

Now I am not writing about missing them, wanting them back or anything like that. Things are fine the way they are. But having seen a tweet on Twitter weeks ago is what is making me write a post about this. Now time to time, you do find cheat codes have been added to some recent games and even some allow you them to be used to gain achievements (not that you in a sense are really achieving anything by doing that).

But just take a look at how games use to be really hard back than where it required you to use a cheat if it were available or use one to make it less frustrating from you, games like Contra or Bionic Commando and much more that I am sure you can think of by yourself too.

Hell there were many websites, some more popular than others that allowed you an easy place to get those cheat codes like CheatCC and more. They still exists though and probably always will. But they are just nothing like they use to be and probably as visited as much as they use to be too.

Well I just wanted to touch base on this a little and not write too long of a discussion on it, much more I could say though.

Android Move Cache Back to Internal Memory

So yesterday I finally decided to root my Android G1. Basically so I could tether its internet to my laptop as where am I at, the WiFi signal is so low and bad. Well I decided to use “Move Cache” from the Market place which allows you to also move your cache for apps such as Browser, Market, Maps, Street View, GMail and Steel cache to your SD card instead of using Internal Memory.

Well I decided just to try it out and use it only for the Browser, Market, Maps and Street View. Well things only went downhill from there, force closed so much in each of those maps or it would be utter slowness like in the Browser. So storing cache back to Internal Memory was never really a problem, just wanted to try it since I do have an 8GB SD card that only uses 1GB. So I selected the options from Move Cache to move it back to Internal Memory, rebooted and removed Move Cache.

Well everything seemed to work until I went to the Market and then later Street View. The Market would prompt you with the following message: “A Server error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen.” So if you want to go back to storing your cache in your Internal Memory than do the following in Terminal Emulator (or any other similar app out there). Especially if you went through a process similar to what I did to remove.

Make sure you are the root user. Run the following command if you have any problems: This obviously will only work if you have rooted your phone such as with JesusFreke’s builds.

su (press enter)
id (press enter)
*It should ask you to allow access, allow it.*

Market Cache to Internal Memory

cd /data/data/com.android.vending
rm -R cache
mrdir cache

Street View Cache to Internal Memory

cd /data/data/com.google.android.street
rm -R cache
mkdir cache

Official Android 1.5 “Cupcake” Manual Update Released

Finally! U.S. users of the Android OS phone or G1 can get their 1.5 Cupcake update. Follow the instructions below to do so, I have already updated with this file and it is the Official U.S. version of Android 1.5 Cupcake.

I am very impressed with this update (that finally has arrived). I have seen my share of videos of the updates but after having used it, it feels so much better than what I was expecting which was good already. The on-screen keyboard is nice, it takes some getting used too. Some larger fingers can have a harder time getting use to. I think I will just be using the on-screen keyboard for quick writing and not long text messages or anything. The user interface updates are even more beautiful.

Disclaimer: I am NOT responsible for anything that may go wrong while updating your phone. Make sure you have a good amount of battery, to be even safer plug the power cord in.

Instructions:

  1. Download: https://android.clients.google.com/updates/partner/signed-kila-ota-148830.de6a94ca.zip
  2. Rename this file to update.zip.
  3. Mount your SD card to your PC through the phone.
  4. Save ALL the contents of your SD Card to a new folder on your PC.
  5. Delete all the contents off the SD Card and put update.zip onto the SD Card.
  6. Shut down your phone.
  7. Hold the HOME button as you press the POWER button to turn on.
  8. When you see a yellow triangle icon appear on your screen, press and hold ALT+L.
  9. When a new screen appears, press ALT+S to apply the update.
  10. It will go through a serious of verification and updates here.
  11. When told to, press the HOME and BACK button.
  12. The phone will restart twice, this may take a few minutes to complete.
  13. Now re-mount your SD Card, copy all the files you backed up, back and delete update.zip.
  14. Now just enjoy all the new GREAT features in Android 1.5 Cupcake.

The Unit has been cancelled

Bethesda Announces 2 More New Fallout 3 DLC

Bethesda announced today two more new Fallout 3 Downloadable Content for all versions including Xbox 360. The first DLC is called Point Lookout and it lets you explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content. It will be released in late June for Xbox 360 and PC for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99).

Mothership Zeta is the second DLC, scheduled for release in late July for Xbox 360 and PC for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99). In Mothership Zeta, the aliens have returned, and they’re pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

I am much more looking forward to Mothership Zeta not that I expect Point Lookout to be anywhere not good though. Bethesda has really been pushing out great new DLC for Fallout 3 this year and it has all been great so far, I am getting so much more out of this game then originally thought.
