So yesterday I woke up and still felt completely sick, sore throat, headache, the works. Decided to finally call of work though I did not want to and was trying to take crap to where I can at least pull through, no luck. So I called off and then all of a sudden minutes later my project lamp blows. Fantastic…. so I bought another one for $300, probably one of the only cons to getting and owning a projector and then to find out it was back ordered, so cancelled the order and ordered through somewhere else, was cheaper, saved on paying tax and cheaper overnight shipping so I should get it here friday since it wasn’t ordered in time to get sent out yesterday.

Went to sleep for hours… woke up and had known stop soup and such, sore throat medicine, blah blah. Did some school work then ended up getting really bored so I hooked up 360 to my tv again and wow, how horrible it is to play games on a tv again. My eyes kill after playing for a few hours on it, can’t wait till I get the lamp back.

This game is incredible and anyone with either Xbox/Xbox 360/PC (soon) should get it. I plan on getting it for PC when it comes out as I expect it to be great on there, it should be known it is a different type of game for the PC, which is cool and another experience to experience. Not sure if I’ll play online though as I am addicted to 360 GRAW and would rather play online there though might enjoy it more online because on 360 you can not change the sensitivity of the joystick which is fine sometimes but a lot of times not.

I have already since beat the game on normal and going to go through it again on hard. It is a short game, took me around 8 hours, probably could of finished it sooner but I took my time to get a good experience out of the game and did some sight seeing.

First week of school was alright, I really do not like one of my classes which is Database Essentials for Decision Making. I just find the assignments so far utterly useless.

Kiefer Sutherland will take a well-earned break from all-day whiskey benders when day 5 of 24 finishes in June. But not for long. After months of speculation Sutherland has finally signed up to star in the first of three 24 movies. Bruce Willis, who is reportedly begging for a piece of the action, has already sent his die-hard vest to the cleaners to demonstrate his readiness for another A-list action role. The production clock is ticking: filming should start later this year.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Half of all malfunctioning products returned to stores by consumers are in full working order, but customers can’t figure out how to operate the devices, a scientist said on Monday.

Product complaints and returns are often caused by poor design, but companies frequently dismiss them as “nuisance calls,” Elke den Ouden found in her thesis at the Technical University of Eindhoven in the south of the Netherlands.

A wave of versatile electronics gadgets has flooded the market in recent years, ranging from MP3 players and home cinema sets to media centers and wireless audio systems, but consumers still find it hard to install and use them, she found.

The average consumer in the United States will struggle for 20 minutes to get a device working, before giving up, the study found.

Product developers, brought in to witness the struggles of average consumers, were astounded by the havoc they created.

She also gave new products to a group of managers from consumer electronics company Philips (PHG.AS), asking them to use them over the weekend. The managers returned frustrated because they could not get the devices to work properly.

Most of the flaws found their origin in the first phase of the design process: product definition, Den Ouden found.

Well I got Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter in the mail today (overnighted it on my pre-order awhile back). I must say, this is the most amazing Xbox 360 game I have yet to play. Yes, I have played other 360 games that were amazing but this game beats them even though the others are still good and nothing wrong with them such as Fight Night Round 3. I’ve already completed a few missions but I know I got awhile to go, beating everything on Normal first to get a feel of things and then going to do it again on Hard (mainly for the gamerpoints but for more of a challenge as well even though playing on Normal is quite a challenge).

My vacation was not bad, relaxed, played COD2 on PC and other stuff. My new computer has been up and running if I did not mention that earlier. It too is amazing. I started my new classes this week, so far so good, I think there will be a little bit of a challenge for me in the networking class I have but so far I am just going through basic stuff.

As reported by Think Secret, according to a “highly placed industry executive” CEO Steve Jobs is currently in talks with major movie distributors regarding a possible iTunes movie distribution system for full-length videos. According to this source, talks are getting rather serious and a deal is becoming closer and closer to reality, more so than ever before. The hold up as of now is a major conflict between the distributors and Jobs on a method of payment. Jobs currently wants to keep a payment implementation similar to that of the existing scheme of pay as you go.

The movie distributors however in direct conflict with this seemingly very successful payment system favor a limited subscription based scheme similar to that used by current movie content distribution services such as Netflix. Such a scheme basically includes a system in which you pay a monthly fee in exchange for an unlimited number of rentals. It is this major factor in a media content distribution deal between Apple and movie distributors such as Starz that is holding up a possible deal. As it stands now, both sides are very unwilling to budge and make even a compromise.

This controversy comes at a time where Apple is supposedly preparing a video dedicated iPod as previously rumored. Only time will tell whether or not these bumps in the road are smoothed out in time for an alleged April 1st (Apple’s 30th Anniversary) product announcement.

I have a week vacation off of school. :) Finished my finals the other day, which I believe really went well. Almost sure I’ll pay each class with high A’s.

So what will I do with my week off? Well I work 4 days this week, my final parts for my new computer come in so I’ll be messing with my new computer and what it can do, play 360 as usual, wait for Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter (release next week), finally get to watch my shows again because the winter olympics are FINALLY over with and not sure what else I’ll end up doing, just relaxing I guess before I start these new classes which I hope I’ll do good in, which reminds me I have to get a book for one of the classes.

Well last night I finally played 360 again after a few days off and went back to Fight Night Round 3 and finished off all the gamer points for it, had 6/8 achievements in one day and planned to get the other 2 that same day but was unable to (was busy). For anyone wondering, the game is great, graphics are amazing and I recommend anyone thinking about it to buy it, you can download the demo off of marketplace to see how it is before you actually buy it if you are worried you won’t like it/play it as much/etc. I still have yet to play online, which I will get to soon.

I recently watched “Grandma’s Boy” and wow, this movie was hilarious, I loved it. You will recognize a lot of familar faces in this movie, it is a Happy Madison Production. You can read more about it at IMDB: Grandma’s Boy (2006)

The idea emerged after Jonathan “Yoni” Shimshoni and a team of aspiring inventors in Israel watched a television documentary about victims trapped on the upper floors of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Shimshoni recalled seeing the towers ablaze and thinking, “This is nuts. This shouldn’t have to happen.”

The team came up with a $1 million escape device with expandable cabins that could be lowered like lifeboats outside a high-rise in distress. A prototype tested in Tel Aviv drew praise from politicians, public safety experts and the landlord of a Manhattan skyscraper, who offered his property for a pilot program.

Then Shimshoni received a discouraging letter from the city’s Office of Emergency Management. He was told, in short, that the project was unworthy of the necessary building permits.

“If there’s anyplace that should revolutionize high-rise safety, it’s New York City,” he said recently at his Manhattan office, inside a 30-floor building where he still hopes to test the system.

Each cabin can hold up to 30 people, meaning 150 people could be evacuated during eight-minute deployment cycles. He estimates the system would have saved hundreds of lives at the World Trade Center on September 11.

In a letter dated February 6, OEM commissioner Joseph Bruno said the city is open to “exploring creative solutions” for high-rise evacuations. But, he said, an analysis by fire, police and building officials raised too many concerns about Shimshoni’s system.

Among the city’s concerns: there would be confusion over who would operate the system during an emergency; using windows as escape routes can help a fire spread; passengers in the cabins risk passing floors immersed in flames; and the system would be prone to the Titanic effect — chaos over who would be first in line for a limited number of spots in each cabin.
