Charlie Bartlett

So this movie stars Anton Yelchin as Charlie Bartlett along with Robert Downey Jr. playing the Principal and his hot and sexy daughter played by Kat Dennings. Great movie. The guy who plays Charlie, I’d love to see in more movies, I looked him on up IMDB, don’t recall any of the movies he has been in but he has been in more TV shows, never saw him in them either. Robert Downey Jr. plays great I think at least but then again, I like him as an actor, he was perfect for Iron Man and did great there too. Then you have Kat Dennings, with the few movies I’ve seen her in, she’s been outstanding and so sexy (The 40 Year Old Virgin).

Charlie ends up getting kicked out of another private school, this time for creating fake driver’s licenses. His mother decides to have him live at him and try going to a public school. He’s not a kid that fits in easily, so he decides to come up with a plan for everyone to like him and so forth the story goes on. I highly recommend watching this movie, I think most people will enjoy it. I had a lot of laughs in this one, it’s not solely based around a comedy but it is one along with drama. So get it and see it!

The Happening

Seriously? Stay away from this movie. I’m a HUGE Mark Wahlberg fan, been looking forward to this movie for a while now. After this movie, I don’t know why Mark picked to be in it, I thought he only picked scripts he liked, especially loving basically every single movie of his prior to this one. I have no way at all lost hope in Mark and future movies but this one was bad.

Now I heard a few bad comments on this movie prior to seeing it, I still would of saw it if I heard even more because I would of still saw this movie because of Mark Wahlberg. I was also still interested in seeing it because Signs and The Village by M. Night Shyamalan were not that bad of movies either.

Never Back Down

I highly recommend getting this movie when it comes out on DVD, which is July 29th. I enjoyed it a lot and I don’t normally ‘favoritize’ movies since I love a lot of them but this is one of them already. There are also very few movies in the say last 10 years that I normally never watch twice, this is one I see myself watching many more times when it’s released on DVD.

Indiana Jones 4 Quick Review

Just got back a little while ago seeing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I enjoyed the movie a lot and thought it was awesome. I’d tell any Indiana Jones fan to go see this movie and anyone who has not seen this movie and is either not sure about it or whatever the reason be, see the first 3 Indiana Jones movie before hand. Why? Because I think you will enjoy it more having done that, even if you have seen just 1 of them, watch them in order. If you’ve seen them, a refresh would not hurt either if you have the time.

I’m not saying you will absolutely love the movie by doing either this, just think you might enjoy it more. It’s definitely not the best movie of the year either, Iron Man took that spot so far and there are a few movies up against that such as Batman Begins and maybe even Hancock? Who knows and whatever other movies there are that I am not mentioning that could be.

I went with 10 friends to see the movie. Their reactions were mixed but no one said it was terrible or bad like how bad Cloverfield was when most of us went and saw that. Some of us including me actually liked it.

The audience’s reaction to the movie (after the movie was over) was so-so. Not as great as I expected from the audience.
[spoiler]Which is most likely because of the the movie basically having just ended the movie with the alien’s flying off in the space ship. I say basically cause after that there is a scene between Indy and his son talking then Indy getting married finally.[/spoiler]
Maybe 30-40% clapped, if that? It wasn’t a FULL theater but it wasn’t empty. I would say maybe 70% of the seats were taken. I didn’t hear anyone say anything bad about the movie as we were walking out. I don’t think people were thrilled about the aliens though for sure.

The action was great. You may find there to be more “bullshit” parts to the movie but again, it’s a movie. I am sure you would rather want to see some crazy cool scenes go on rather than something lame and typical, that’s just my take on it. Plus, the previous Indiana movie’s have done the same stuff anyways.

The comedy is still there and easily laughable as the previous Indiana Jones movies and I am sure still will be if you to watch it again just like the first 3 movies. There is even a few easter eggs, such as near the ending scene of Area 51 when they were driving through the warehouse of boxes.

[spoiler]After the movie, my friends seemed to have mixed thoughts on the movie, they thought it was good and action was great and everything else. But I think from gathering their thoughts together, the alien stuff was too much for them. I kind of have to agree with them too, it got really crazy. Now, I’m not saying throw out all the alien stuff, especially because the movie is about the Crystal Skulls but just got to be a little TOO MUCH.

Now having said that, lets go back to Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark. Remember the ending where the Nazis have and then open the Ark of the Covenant? What happened? Spirits came flying out and were flying all over the place then end up killing all the Nazis and something goes flying into the storm like sky then comes falling down into the chest.

It’s not only that, things happen in The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade as well. So it’s not like it wasn’t a good idea to have done what they did. Just maybe not SO MUCH alien could of been done. Plus they took the Crystal Skulls and made their own type of story with it. Not that there is any true story anyways or that I believe the world will end on December 21, 2012 when the Mayan calendar ends and such. (What I just said was not part of the movie, there was no talk of that in the movie just what is believed by people in real life today on collecting all 13 skulls, only a few have been found)

Either way, I don’t think it makes the film terrible though. I would like to see Steven Spielberg make a 5th installment. I don’t think Shia Labeouf should take lead role, he just can’t play that role yet that Harrison Ford has made great so far. It would have to have Harrison Ford again and teaching his son to be better and finish school, hah, among everything else. I’ll be there opening night to see it.[/spoiler]

My thoughts on GTA: IV

GTA: IV was released a week ago now. I’ve played it a lot this passed week. 77 hours, 11 hours and 51 seconds to be exact. I love this game, it’s a great game but I am upset at Rockstar for how much content they took out of the game among what was shown on trailers over the past year and how you can’t do most of what was shown.

I am just going to list them, not in any particular order. This is not a complete list as I’m not going to remember or think of everything that I have noticed. Also, I am NOT hating on GTA: IV, like I said, it’s a great game and I still love it. Though please Rockstar, give us DLC by August? :)

    * Weapons seem to have disappeared from this game. There are few to use but still great, M4 for the win. Silence Weapons? What happened?!?! Flame Thrower? Nightstick? Katana? Desert Eagle? Remote explosives? (Yes, you can get 1 for 1 time use till a few hours runs by from Packie but that’s not cool) Mini Gun? Heat Seeking Rocket Launcher? (It’s already pain to hit a helicopter with the RPG) The parachute? (Why?! You really need one with helicopter most the time)
    * Vehicle modifications and customizations.
    * I had around 1.3 million after having completed the story line and completing all of Stevie’s car missions. What am I suppose to do with it? Other than pay my hospital bills when I rarely die and buy cheap ammo from Jacob.
    * Mansions, Houses, etc. Why? Why take them out? I don’t understand. Let us purchase something! If you have not played the game yet or got to Playbox X, kill him, you get his suite.
    * Dealerships. I already know about the 3 dealerships in Algonquin and Alderney. Those you steal from, not buy. Turismo’s at Grotti in Algonquin a block from your safehouse on Albany Ave. NRG900’s in Northern Alderney on the corner of Lemhi St. and Sacramento Ave. Few different vehicles at AutoEroticar in Northern Alderney as was located at the corner of Kencekie Ave. and Lockowski Ave.
    * Fighting seems to have taken a hit in this game, thank god you only really fight in like 2 missions at the beginning.
    * I love the radio stations and the content on them but it doesn’t seem as if there’s a lot of different content on each station, it’s usually always play the same thing I listened to not too long ago. I expected not having to hear the same thing said 10 minutes ago on the same station?
    * While collecting the pigeons, nearly every damn time the cops come after you for firing your weapon, right? For when this happens, why do they know EXACTLY where you are (while you are on foot getting away) while not having seen you? Yes, I hate it. PLUS, why is the radar so damn large for just firing a weapon? Sigh. Each crime should determine how big the radar is, I don’t want to have to travel across town for something small town, like nicking a police car, which brings me too….
    * Seriously, everytime you BARELY nick a cop car, they still have to come after you? I can understand flying into one and what not but you barely hit one purely by accident, you now have to get away. Radar size? Psh, come on.
    * Not that we need money, seems the only real smart way to make money if needed after the story line is done is to collect the expensive best cars for Stevie. What happened to gambling? I wonder what happens (as to I never have found out) When you have $0 and you die, what happens to the bill?
    * The weapon aiming system I do love, it is so much better but why is it that everytime I go to aim at a cop in front of me, you either flip me around or move me to a cop or a civilian that is further away from that cop in front of me or someone behind a wall? :(
    * In trailers you showed us throwing people into trunks among other things, where did that go? Not cool.
    * When our weapon runs out of ammo, maybe I don’t want to throw it on the ground and have to spend $5,000 or more on it again. Stop.

Cloverfield = OVERHYPED

So saw Cloverfield last night. Not as great as I expected to me, same with the other 7 people I went with. Overhyped big time. It wasn’t necessary a bad movie but it wasn’t good, I am not sure if I would consider it so-so. I was not a fan of the handycam/shakyness of the camera.

I wasn’t happy about there not being more of a story to the monster and everything else that happened such as with the ‘parasites’ like when Marlena exploded or whatever from being bitten, etc. Now I do understand the way they made the movie, more of a ‘documentary’ as if lived by any of us with a camera at the time and so on. But it’s not what any of us wanted and talking to others, the same but I have read many that liked the movie as it was and so on. As always, everyones opinion is different and they are entitled to it.

I hope there is a sequel, as talks of this already going surfacing and on there internet. But I hope it goes in a different direction and not the same way they did it.

I would definitely call this and best describe this movie as a Blair Witch Project meets Godzilla movie as others have been calling it.

Xbox 360 Fall Dashboard Update 2007

I take back on what I said about the update (originally thought it was bad ass), have learned half the stuff I thought I read about what would be released in new update was not true at all/not there.

     
    Pros:

Guide is much faster. x2! Should of been like this ages ago but it still needs a little work

    Cons:

No Group Chat – seriously? Why has this STILL not been added after 2 YEARS.
No Clan Support – same goes with above. Still nothing, why?
No Friends List Grouping – Wish they’d add this so I can group those on my friends list per game, clan, real life friends, etc etc.
No Friends Comments – Goes with above, basically the same.
Profile – not as great as I thought it’d be. Not that I care for the feature but nothing to get excited over either. Go use Facebook.
Friends of Friends – just useless, will be used for the first week and die afterwards. Probably already have those friends on my friends list.

It seems all their updates focus on the Dashboard Blades and Marketplace. I know I am not alone when I say this but I rarely use any of those feature yet alone purchase any content (waste of money). Yes, sometimes I’ll download a arcade game, demo or video game trailer but that’s very rare and really it. I use the Xbox 360 to play video games among almost everyone else I know.

This is just a short list so far, I know there are other features that were added but I have yet to use them such as video content and using XviD/DivX. Xbox Original Titles seem like a waste of time and money. I’ve played some of those games before and probably those that will be added in the future. New games today are better, I believe they cost $15 (over priced I think) and unless you have a big HDD, you are limited to those you purchase/have to delete or upgrade HDD.

Call of Duty 4

Finally, I am writing a review on one of the greatest games I have ever played. Now given it’s single player might be a little short, I beat it in around 10 8 hours on Veteran first play through (I’m use to COD Veteran Difficulty), it’s still a great game no matter what you say. I’ll start with single player, the graphics are insane, the feel the game gives you as you play through, I enjoyed a lot. What I liked most about the game is the sniper level, given they could of made shooting the sniper at that one point of the level easier and more explainable, it was still so much fun prior to crawl and take out enemies and afterwards when your running to extraction.

Multiplayer is what makes this game so much better, it has to be one of the best multiplayer games I have ever played and their are few of those in my opinion. I am addicted to it sort as I was back in the days when I was addicted to MOH:AA and Call of Duty 1/2 online (Never got into 3 nor enjoyed it). It’s ranking system may be fast but it’s really not that fast after you get in the 30’s and have to reach 55. Rather your good or not unless you cheat and boost which just means you fail at life.

But what’s even better is that there is a ‘Prestige Mode’. What this is once you reach level 55 and fill it’s bar (basically as if you’d fill the bar to reach level 56). You are given the option to enter Prestige Mode and start all over again stating you are an “awesome player” but technically, this is not entirely true as I have played with higher ranks and MOST/99% of them suck so badly. What happens when you entire prestige mode? You look your rank of 55 and start at 1 again, you are given a special badge for each prestige mode you enter (there are 10). You have to rank up to get all your weapons back, you start all over with challenges and being able to create classes. The only thing you basically do get/keep is a new shiny badge and you keep the ability to change your clan tag. There is nothing wrong with this though but I do they should at least unlock all challenges because by the time you unlock the other challenges in the deeper ranks, you’ve completed them prior but don’t get credit for them and you’ll end up going into prestige mode again most likely before you even finish any of them.

Online plays smooth though, it will get even better with the recent updates they have been talking about doing to fix a few some problems such as dropping the game if the host whom 98% of the time you have no idea who is. This update will pick someone else to host it instead. I am not sure but hope in the next update that it will not find you games where they are almost over and of course, you are on the losing team. That or have a minute left, so many scenarios I have been in and sure others that have played the game a lot and understand what I am talking about, have been in too.

I know the game doesn’t have any stat recording like Halo 3 has. This was suppose to be in the game but they pulled it out. They say it will be coming though, I am guessing they should have this for us on their 2nd update though this next update would be awesome to through that in with. I enjoyed that about Halo 3, especially how you can check your stats online (website).

Overall, this game gets a 10/10.

Kane & Lynch: Dead Man

Where to start… this game is absolutely terrible in almost every aspect. It’s aiming system is absolutely horrible, ‘sticking’ to objects is not worth it and barely works half the time, the A.I. of both your team and the enemy are terrible, and so many other things are wrong with the game. As you play through, my brother and I are going through co-op at the moment, there will be parts where the game is just stupid and a lot of it comes down to everything I just pointed out and I know I am leaving a few things out but I’ve said some of the main problems already.

The game could of been better, playing it, I think it could of been. If maybe they had testers to fix out the bugs. They could of made their aiming system so much better, one way they could of at least made it tolerable is if they enemies went down quicker. It takes almost a clip from a P90, Assault Rifle or SAW to take an enemy down, if not more. If you run out of ammo, MOST-OF-THE-TIME, not always, your ‘teammates’ will offer you some so you can refill, they should of just made it unlimited because it’s annoying. I remember doing the bank mission, like 3rd/4th level, first thing you do as a team at the beginning of the game, having to pick up other weapons because while he’s working on the safe he can’t give you ammo and sometimes (at other points of the game) they just won’t give you ammo when you need it.

Overall I give this game a 6/10. I just can’t seem myself to give it any higher. It almost has no replay value because you will not want to replay it unless you have to for any achievements missed. I know about it’s multiplayer, I have not tried it but will at least play it a little, it sounds cool and I was told to check it out because it’s a pretty good concept. I also may come back and update this review a little as I play through the game more and finish it. I’m not sure how far I am, it seems I’m near the end but I could be wrong on that.
